Water Collection Procedure

  •   Collect sample in clean glass or plastic container
  •   Collect at-least 1000 min Litre of sample to perform all tests (Physical Chemical and Bacteriological)
  •   Collect sample in separate sterile bottle for bacteriological test (100 ml)
  •   Hand pump with tube wells - collect sample pumps after a little pumping time
  •   Open well water - collect sample just below the water level
  •   Pipe water - collect sample from the open taps

Effluent Sample Collection Procedure

Proper safety precautions must be observed when collecting waste water samples

  •   Collect sample in clean glass or plastic container
  •   Sample will typically be collected either by directly filling the sample container or by using an automatic sampler or other device
  •   Collect at-least 2000 m1/2Litres of sample to perform all tests
  •   Collect sample in separate sterile bottle for bacteriological test (100 ml)
  •   During sample collection, if transferring the sample from a collection device, make sure that the device does not come in contact with the sample containers
  •   Place the sample into appropriate, labeled containers

Water Testing Interval

Bacteriological Test

  •   Hand pump with tube wells - once a month
  •   Open well water - once in two months
  •   Pipe water - once in two months

Chemical Test

  •   Before and after monsoon twice a year

Remedies

  •   Keep your surroundings clean around the water resources
  •   Water should boil at least 15 minutes before drinking purpose
  •   Use suitable filters for cleaning the water
  •   Disinfect with Bleaching powder 5 gm in 1000 Litre water/Chlorine tablets
